This piece is an acrylic self portrait. Adding a personal touch to this soft, shadowy piece was a challenge that I happily took. I fell in love with the shadowy dark portraits and wanted to create one of my own. I used the combination of damp colors, shading, and abstract realism to come to my final stylized design. Portraits can also tell a lot about an individual. With a clever combination of color choice and composition a portrait can speak a thousand words. With this piece I inserted my personality, femininity, and a quite nature. I find that making connections with peoples personalities and imagery is exciting to develop together in my paintings. Creating portraits are a piece of the person. A snapshot of a persons inner being. I love being able to capture this hidden person in my work, and hope to continue to do this for others, instead of myself, in the future.
