Woodsy Bridge

This piece, by far, in my favorite out of all my paintings. One of my few oil paintings, I painted it based of a fantastical view of a bridge in a forest. What I see as the most alluring part of this piece is its use of high lights and low lights to communicate a shady forest’s lighting on a bright summer’s day. The bridge, especially, shows the dramatic lighting, as to its sides, and under it, it is nearly black it is so dark. This is while the mossy railings of the bridge collects the rays of light that escape from the thick, woodsy ceiling. The railings are so bright that they are actually painted with white paint. I love how this lighting adds to the calm, dreary mood of the rest of the piece’s composition. The peaceful waters, lush greenery, and undisturbed growth  help create this calm atmosphere.
